Competitions

Win an MP3 player with the NUS "Snap It Off" campaign.

The National Union of Students is currently running a campaign to discourage wasting electricity, both on and off campus. With Snap It Off students are encouraged to photograph lights which have been left on unnecessarily and send the photos to the NUS, who then publish them on their website.

Universities can check the site to see if one of their buildings has been snapped and they then know they need to sort out the energy wastage. Each month, one submitted photo is chosen at random and whoever sent it in wins an MP3 player.

Win £20,000 to fund your carbon
reduction project

The Mayor of London’s Office is aiming to reduce the city’s C02 emissions by 60 percent over the next 14 years. As part of this, it is offering London students £20,000 to invest in implementing an idea which will reduce energy use.

Entries can involve adapting or improving an existing carbon reduction idea, or producing a completely new one. Public awareness schemes, technology investments, business participation and just about any other idea which will reduce C02 emissions are welcome.

Entries must be in by 19 February, 2012. Click here for details.
