Professional, Statutory & Regulatory Body accreditation
What is a PSRB?
Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) accreditation is a general term used to describe the accreditation, approval or recognition of specific courses by bodies such as the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Through the accreditation process the University must satisfy a PSRB that the learning and achievement by students meets the professional benchmarks of the particular PSRB. The award of an accredited degree may allow a graduate to qualify for a particular type of employment and, in some cases, gain exemption from PSRB examinations.
Why are they important?
The University recognises that PSRB accreditation is an important dimension of academic standards, providing additional external reference points, and adding value in terms of employability. Accordingly, PSRB accreditation reports are considered in a manner similar to External Examiner reports and may take place alongside, or as a substitute for, Periodic Review.
Which courses are accredited?
Information about the PSRB accreditations held by the University is listed on the register in the link to the right, maintained by the Quality Enhancement Unit.
If you would like further information about any of the courses or the PSRBs on this list, please contact the relevant Course or Subject Leader. Alternatively, please contact Mohbub Uddin who will be able to respond to your query or refer you to the appropriate person in the Faculty.
