Welcome to the Development OfficeThe Estates Development Section continues to act as the intelligent client between contractors, external consultants and the University relating to new developments and major refurbishment projects. Currently the Development team are implementing the University's strategic plan for the estate. The Section operates using skilled professional internal project managers who undertake works directly or by overseeing the works of external consultants and/or professional teams. The aim is to utilise the skills and experience of this small team in establishing procedures and processes for developing small and medium-sized works packages in addition to major new developments. They are also a centre of excellence, offering advice to academics and the wider University when consideration is given to new courses and existing courses, where there is an Estates involvement relating to refurbishment and/or new developments. |
Works
Our main current project is the redevelopment of large areas of Benwell Road. This will run into the summer, delivering £1.7m of new spaces and improvements. We have recently finished delivering large scale projects at Central House, Moorgate, the Learning Centre and the Tower Complex.
