Details of timescale, progress and how we are working safely around BP-22 can be found on this dedicated page. The page is updated every time we have new information, so check it regularly if you wish to know how the works are progressing and if there will be any further expansion in scope.

New site names roll-out

The Estates Department is beginning a roll out of new site names, as part of our strategy to create a cohesive identity across London Metropolitan University’s estate. The new site names are Holloway, Highbury, Aldgate, Moorgate and Shoreditch.

The ‘City’ and ‘North’ campus names are a legacy from the merger of the University of North London and the London Guildhall University in 2002. The new site names will reflect the diverse and distinctive locations of London Met’s buildings around the city:

Holloway Highbury Aldgate Moorgate Shoreditch
Tower Complex Ladbroke House Calcutta House Moorgate Kingsland Road
Learning Centre Central House
Science Centre Commercial Road
Stapleton House Goulston Street
Eden Grove Jewry Street
Spring House Women’s Library

London Met navigation app enters public testing phase

Estates has been supporting Information Systems and Services in developing a smartphone app which helps students navigate around the University. This has now been released as a beta test version on iPhone and Android.

It is important to emphasise that the app is at a testing stage and will have faults. It has been released as a beta so people can try it out, then feedback to ISS about what works and what needs improving.

The app can be downloaded from Android Market here, or by searching for "met:APP" in the Apple App store. Features include:

  • Search site maps for buildings and locations, on and off London Met sites.
  • Find out which computing rooms have free PCs and see which is the closest using GPS.
  • View personalised timetables.
  • Receive alerts and announcements using Push Notifications.
  • View library account information, including loans and reservations.
  • Receive the latest news and events from the University and Students’ Union.
