Funding
Each Trainee working in a State funded school currently attracts funding of £8,300 over two years. The majority of this money - £2,500 each year (£5,000 in total) - is paid to the school or workplace. They can choose how to use the money - either as cover for supply for the Trainee or to cover the cost of the Mentor. Individual costs will differ depending on individual circumstances.
The remaining £3,300 is retained by the University to partially meet the costs of delivering the university-based elements of the Programme and providing Supervising Tutor visits and assessments
Once a Trainee is formally accepted by the TDA to train on the Programme, the funding is made available to the University, as the Recommending Body. However, very often funding does not arrive until halfway through the school year and usually arrives in installments. We ask for patience from the workplace in this respect. As soon as the University receives the funding, the appropriate portion will be passed on immediately - but usually termly.
