Subrata Bose's PhD experience at London-Met

London Metropolitan University's Intelligent Systems Research Centre stands on the cusp of biogenetics and bioinformatics through computational modelling and data mining. I started my research in the applications of neural networks to the prediction and analysis of membrane proteins in the proteome. A Multidisciplinary Supervision team was formed from members of the Intelligent Systems Research Centre; it had a diverse mixture of knowledge, skills and experience, and was tailored to meet the demands of the challenging problem. As a result I've completed my PhD in time with some exciting original contributions to knowledge and understanding in my research area.

I think research skills, understandings of the discipline and personal attributes are the factors that make PhD graduates more equipped to secure employment and to be successful in their chosen occupations. During my PhD, I furnished myself with some of the above attributes that helped me to get my current job at Faculty of Medicine in Imperial College. The intellectual, self-management and communication skills I learned during my PhD training at Intelligent Systems Research Centre has been really helping me to work in a world leading scientific institute.
