Widening Participation: Synthesis of International Evidence
Funded by
The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS)
Timescale
April 2007- April 2008
Overview
The aim of the project is to identify, evaluate and analyse international evidence of good practice in widening participation in HE amongst under-represented groups, in order to demonstrate how they might best be operationalised in an English context.
The project consists of 3 stages:
- Evidence Framework: An extensive search of international grey and published literature on widening participation, This evidence will then be evaluated, sorted and classified thematically
- Conceptual Framework: A model will be developed to demonstrate how far these initiatives are applicable to England
- Application Framework: This will identify those initiatives which are potentially most useful to England, with an analysis of their costs, benefits and risks
