Regional Monitoring and Support Unit (RMSU) for the EC’s Euromed Heritage IV programme (2008-2012)
Euromed Heritage IV represents a further milestone in the process of recognizing 'culture' as a catalyst for mutual understanding between the people of the Mediterranean region. Today embedded in the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) andwith a budget of 13.5 million euros, Euromed Heritage IV (2008-2011) intends to facilitate the appropriation by people of their own national and regional cultural legacy through easier access to education and knowledge on cultural heritage.
To meet this goal, a number of projects will be funded for a three-year period. Each project brings together a leading organization and various partners from both the European Union and Mediterranean Partner Countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia.
To assist partners and beneficiary countries in achieving Euromed Heritage IV programme’s objectives, a Regional Monitoring and Support Unit (RMSU) is operating from Brussels. In collaboration with the EuropeAid Co-operation Office, it provides support to projects ensuring coherent implementation, ownership and sustainability, exchange of information and results.
The RMSU benefits from the technical know-how and support of a multi-national consortium in whichLondon Metropolitan University is playing a leading role. Staff from London Met will provide amongst other aspects, technical expertise in the delivery, dissemination and sustainability of projects, plus the organisation and delivery of thematic and training workshops.
