  • Iron Homeostasis in Health and Disease: Effect of iron status on gene expression, including study iron overload in genetic haemochromatosis in collaboration with Dr Adrian Bomford at the Institute of Liver Studies, King's College Medical School.
  • Role of the ferroxidase hephaestin in regulation of dietary iron absorption by the body, in collaboration with Dr Rob Evans, King's College London.
  • Bioinformatics: Use of neural networks to identify and classify transmembrane proteins from genome databases in collaboration with Dr Tony Browne, Surrey University.
  • Herbal Medicine: Assessing the molecular basis of action of constitutents purified from A.membranaceus and other herbs.
  • Essential Fatty Acids: Molecular basis of the effect of DHA on membrane signalling pathway responses of mast cells and T-cells.
