Simon Hallsworth



Simon Hallsworth is a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Applied Social Science at London Metropolitan University where he is also the Director of the Universities Centre for Social Evaluation Research.

His current work with the centre includes projects with the Metropolitan Police and the Youth Justice Board studying gang activity and gun related crime in a European perspective. He has written on penal change in late modernity and is currently completing a book for Cavendish entitled 'Punitive States'.

He is also involved in producing an edited book on issues and debates raised by the current punitive turn in western societies and has completed a book for Willan on street robbery, due to be published this year.

His research interests include penal change in modernity; young people and crime; and the local politics of crime prevention and control.
