Strasbourg litigation – a regional perspective
In May 2011 EHRAC held its first ever training seminar at the regional level. This highly successful event brought together 31 experienced ECHR practitioners from Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Moldova for a high-level seminar and practical discussion on topical issues relating to litigation and advocacy at the European Court of Human Rights. 11 facilitators drawn from such institutions as the European Court’s Department for the Execution of Judgments and leading academics from the University of Essex, UK joined EHRAC’s own legal team in providing expert input.
The programme included a number of peer-led discussion groups that gave the participants maximum opportunity to share practice and experience from within the region with a view to enhancing cooperation, sharing successful techniques and jointly tacking problems common to post-Soviet systems.
