Oak Foundation Human Rights Internship Programme
On 10 March 2011, EHRAC launched the Oak Foundation Human Rights Internship Programme. The Programme is being administered by EHRAC who has been supported by the Oak Foundation for over five years.
Under this programme final-year undergraduate students, graduates and post-graduate students are invited to apply for a four-month human rights internship placement with the Oak Foundation. This is a rare and very valuable opportunity for those studying human rights, international relations or related disciplines to gain insight into the workings of an international grant-making foundation.
The Oak Foundation was established over a decade ago to address issues of global social and environmental concerns, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged. The Oak Foundation comprises a group of philanthropic organisations based in various countries. It has made over 1,600 grants to not-for-profit organisations across the globe. See http://www.oakfnd.org/node/9
Intern tasks at the Oak Foundation will be both substantive and administrative and will support Oak’s three core programme priorities: liberty and security of the person, ending impunity for gross abuses and the promotion and protection of human rights defenders. Placements will be for three to five days per week for a period of four months. The first placement period commenced in June 2011 and the second period began in October 2011. A stipend to cover travel expenses and living allowance will be provided.
January 2012: Please note we are no longer accepting applications for this programme. Please check back later in the year for subsequent calls for applications.
