In March 2006, Philip Leach (EHRAC's Director) and Tina Devadasan (Project Manager) travelled to Krasnodar Krai in south Russian to meet with the project's lawyer in the region, Marina Dubrovina. They were accompanied by one of the project's Moscow layers, Eleonora Davidyan.
Yezidi Kurds
During the course of their visit, a meeting was held with the residents of a Yezidi settlement, to discuss the potential for taking a case to the European Court of Human Rights on their behalf.
The Yezidis allege that the local authorities are refusing to register their residence in the area. Consequently they are unable to find formal employment or receive benefits. Furthermore, they are regularly fined by the local police for not being registered.
