In September 2010 EHRAC organised an NGO roundtable in Moscow bringing together a number of local NGOs involved in litigation before the European Court of Human Rights to discuss topical issues, problems encountered and potential solutions.
Representatives of six organisations, including Memorial HRC, Stichting Russian Justice Initiative and the Public Verdict Foundation attended. The discussions covered the implementation of judgments of the European Court, the use of Rule 39 (interim measures) in instances of extradition and disappearance, the implications of new European Court jurisprudence regarding disappearance cases and potential cases on behalf of persons whose requests for refugee status have been declined by the Russian authorities.
Feedback from participants included:
“It was useful, especially in terms of what could be done together with other NGOs on implementation.”
“Almost all the issues discussed during the roundtable were useful for me.
