On 9 December 2005 EHRAC hosted a meeting to discuss the supervision of the enforcement of European Court of Human Rights judgments in cases arising from the Chechen conflict.
The participants reviewed the existing mechanisms for implementing ECHR rulings, including the Committee of Ministers, the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights and the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, as well as the strategy taken by the applicants in the first three cases that the Court has already ruled on (click here for the applicants' submissions to the Committee of Ministers).
The meeting also considered how best to influence Russia and the Committee of Ministers to ensure that the broadest range of measures are taken when implementing the judgments and how to monitor such measures.
