EHRAC International Steering Committee

The first meeting of the EHRAC International Steering Committee was held at the Kazakhstan Embassy Hotel, Moscow, on 18 September 2006. This new Steering Committee was convened in order to guide and support EHRAC's work in Russia and the development of its new ECHR litigation project in Georgia and will meet annually.

The meeting began with a review of the first three years of EHRAC's work by Philip Leach (EHRAC Director) and Tatiana Kasatkina (Memorial, Executive Director). This was followed by a discussion on the project's future activities and priorities. Lali Chkhetia of the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association (GYLA), gave a presentation on the role of GYLA's work in Georgia and the newly launched EHRAC-GYLA joint project.

The meeting then elected Professor Bill Bowring as Chair of the EHRAC International Steering Committee and Dokka Itslaev as Vice Chair.
