The seminar explored responses to human trafficking and specifically the emergence of counter-trafficking initiatives in Europe. The seminar also addressed specific research questions, including the extent of prosecutions, identification of and provision of assistance to victims. Whilst limited data preclude various levels of analysis, a picture can be drawn of emerging responses organized around the "three Ps" of Prosecution, Protection and Prevention.
Through emerging assessments of counter-trafficking initiatives on sexual exploitation and labour exploitation in Europe, researchers and professionals in the field must ask the question: how to move beyond efforts that amount to ‘drops in the ocean?
