Picture shows the 2008 group doing the revolutionary rounds... in Havana
In June 2007, 2008 and 2009 the IISC organised study tours for MBA students from the internationally acclaimed Cranfield University School of Management.
The tour comprises a week of visits to academic institutions, companies and factories for an in-depth look at how business within the Cuban economy works.
The tours are accompanied by Dr Stephen Wilkinson, Assistant Director of the IISC and Emily Morris, Research Director of the IISC.
In 2007, the first tour we undertook, there were 11 participants, this grew to 20 in 2008 and 22 in 2009. The itinerary for the 2008 is availble by clicking on the icon below:
Here is what some of the students and Cranfield representatives had to say about the experience and the IISC service:
'The visit was extremely interesting and an outstanding success. The pride of the Cuban people was inspiring, as well as the dedication they had to their work, the lack of animosity toward the USA, the many similarities with each of our own cultures rather than the differences, and the cars!'
Mark Rogers (Student, 2008)
Michael Spike Hudson (Student, 2008)
José-David de la Fuente (Student, 2008)

‘I really enjoyed our visit to Cuba and your depth of knowledge of Cuba and its people made a significant difference in our ability to assimilate so much in such a short period of time.’
‘It was a great experience that I won't forget for a long time: your knowledge of the place is, frankly, frightening’

'The visits to the academic institutes were especially interesting and provided us with a lot of insights into this "isolated" country.'
'It was a fantastic week, so fascinating and well-organised. The IISC has provided a really comprehensive and valuable insight into how the country works.'
'This was our first time to Cuba and it would not have been possible without the help of the IISC. We highly recommend them.'
