Enrolment & Re-enrolment
New Students
At enrolment by signing the Enrolment Form you formally confirm with the University that you are liable for payment of tuition fees. Enrolment renewal (known as re-enrolment) in subsequent years is conditional upon you having paid all fees from the previous year.
Continuing Students
By re-enrolling online, you are also confirming that you accept responsibility for the tuition fees due for that academic year. There are a number of ways to ensure your fees are paid:
-
If all your fees are paid via Student Finance/Student Loans Company you do NOT have to show your Assessment Letter/Payment Schedule to your Undergraduate/Postgraduate Office, as confirmation of your re-enrolment will be sent to the Student Loans Company directly after you have re-enrolled.
-
If you are paying all of the tuition fees yourself these must either be paid in full or paid via an approved Instalment Plan agreed with Income Collection in the Finance Department.
-
If your tuition fees are being paid partly by you and partly by the Student Loans Company, you must provide the Financial Assessment letter from the Student Loans Company to your Undergraduate/Postgraduate Office AND pay the remainder of the fees at one of the University’s two Finance offices.
University Bursary
Bursary Information
The London Metropolitan University bursary is paid to students who are under the new variable tuition fee system introduced in 2006/07. This means those students on courses that are fundable by the Student Loans Company, paying tuition fees of £3375 in 2011/12. It is payable to Home students who started in 2006/07 or later and EU students who started in 2007/08 or later.
Detailed information about the bursary can be found on the Advice & Information pages within the Student Services part of the London Metropolitan website.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is entitled to the Bursary?
All students paying the new variable fee of £3375 may be eligible.
Do I need to apply to the University for the Bursary?
No, your application for funding from the Student Loans Company is automatically used to assess your eligibility for the University Bursary. The Student Loans Company administers the Bursary on behalf of the University.
Nobody asked me if I wanted the Bursary?
When you completed your application for student funding you were presented with a tick box which is used to state whether or not you are willing to give consent for your financial details to be shared for bursary purposes. As long as you did not tick this box you will be automatically considered for the Bursary.
I don’t know if I did give consent to share the information – it is too late?
No, if you ring the SLC on 0845 607 7577 they can accept this by phone.
When will I hear if I will be receiving the bursary?
We hope that letters confirming eligibility will go out during December, if you have not received one by January 1st then please check the Bursary section above for more information.
When will the bursary be paid?
For students on a September-start course, provided you had received your final Financial Assessment from the Student Loans Company by November 15th and this shows the same course and year of course that is on your University record (you can check this on your Evision), then the Bursary is paid in February. February-starters should receive the payment in May.
I gave consent but I have still not received any notification?
To be eligible for the Bursary you need to still be attending the University, to have had your final assessment from Student Finance, and this needs to have been received by the Student Loans Company by November 15th. Your Financial Assessment will also need to show the correct tuition fee amount for this year.
How do I know if I have had my final assessment?
Check your assessment letter carefully, it will say either final or provisional. If it is provisional that means that Student Finance are still waiting for you to provide information to them. You will need to provide them with the required information.
My final assessment was received after November 15th?
If your final assessment was received later than this date you will still get your bursary but there will be a delay to the first payment. The Student Loan Company provide regular updates to the University and once we have confirmed the details back to them your bursary is activated and you will then receive a letter confirming this.
How do I know if my fees are correct?
For virtually every course the correct tuition fee is £3375, which you may take out a tuition fee loan for. This figure will be on the assessment you have received, if it is not £3375 then check with Student Finance.
I have withdrawn from the course?
Unfortunately if you are no longer attending then you are no longer entitled to the Bursary.
I have suspended my studies – do I still get the bursary?
It will depend on the date that you suspended your studies, when you are returning and what adjustments, if any, have been made to your tuition fees. Please email bursary.query@londonmet.ac.uk for confirmation.
What happens if I started in the Spring Semester?
You will still receive the same bursary as everyone else, except that it will be paid in May.
What should I do if I have changed my Bank details?
The London Metropolitan Bursary is administered by the Student Loans Company and they make the payments. Provided you have notified them of any changes to your bank account details for loan purposes then no further action is needed.
What should I do if I have changed my address?
The London Metropolitan Bursary is administered by the Student Loans Company and they send out the letters detailing how much you have received and when payments will be made. They will send this to the address they hold for you and so you must notify them if that has been changed. They will not accept changes notified by us. You are responsible for maintaining your address details with London Metropolitan University through your Evision account.
I am a EU student, do I qualify?
EU students who started in 2007/8 or later are eligible for the Bursary. To qualify you will need to be financially assessed and you will need to request this from the EU processing team who deal with your application for tuition fee support. Please Click Here for their contact details.
