Advice & Guidance

We offer 1-1 information advice and guidance and employment support for refugees from a professional background and/or with high level education qualifications. This is open to refugees who live in the Greater London area.

Also from February 2009 we will offer information, advice and guidance to Refugee Healthcare Professionals in London.

(Unfortunately we are unable to offer advice and guidance to other new clients because of limited funding)

Experienced specialist advisers can offer support in:

	Exploring options and clarifying needs
	Developing an Action Plan focusing on realistic and practical steps to short and longer-term goals
	Identifying transferable skills, knowledge and experience, as well as identifying gaps
	Researching the UK labour market to determine the level of demand in specific fields
	Writing targeted CVs, writing supporting statements, filling in application forms and interpreting job advertisements, job descriptions and person specifications
	Networking effectively
	Finding, negotiating and preparing for work placements
	Preparing for job interviews through analysis of job and person specification, mock interviews and feedback
	Understanding and going through the re-qualification process
	Understanding and preparing for the APEL (Assessment of Prior and Experiential Learning) process
	Getting National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) assessment of overseas qualifications
	Advocating with employers, professional bodies and education or training providers

We also provide access to resources including telephone, stationary, postage, computers, Internet, careers software, the RAGU library, professional journals and newspapers.

We have had many good outcomes from our advice and guidance services and we pride ourselves on the high quality holistic individual support we offer.
