Studios

The challenge was to transform an existing building into a "City Building" and to make a gift to the city in the process.

Design work seeking relations between landform, ancient settlements, industry and sprawl in a striking city-landscape: the Isthmus of Corinth.

Studio 3 is the Live Projects Studio, exploring new ways of practicing socially engaged architecture and self-initiating unsolicited projects with real partners and clients.

Studio 4 has been considering housing estates and how landscape can mediate between the private residence and the public realm of the city beyond.

This year Studio 5 investigated the question of civic architecture by proposing town halls in new towns and market towns outside London.

Studio 6 has spent the year exploring the architecture of the city through establishing an intimate understanding of the extraordinary urban environment of Sabbioneta.

Studio 7 offered 2 sites for this year’s programme of ‘Exchange in the City’ - Mile End/Bromley by Bow, London and Tai Ganj, Agra.

We have investigated the supermarket in relation to its urban context and the wider issues of food production and local and global economies.

In Glasgow we investigated and drew the city and the Barras, mapping Glasgow’s gridded structure and medieval street patterns, and met local artists, architects and historians working in and around the Barras.
