FdA Furniture Making Summer Show

Chair by Mona Tripp

About the show

The Foundation Degree in Furniture Making show reveals traditional and contemporary furniture making skills applied to inventive and contemporary design. Our students learn to make, and learn by making in a School bustling with creativity and energy, and the furniture on display illustrates this vibrant and relevant approach. The work is both exciting and challenging, enormously satisfying, recognizably innovative and always well made. You will see work that clearly reveals the hand of the maker as well as work that seeks to intelligently exploit the potential of industrial manufacture and advanced technologies.

Our alumni are employed in the full range of related fields in designing, making and restoring furniture in the UK and abroad. The course has long established links with the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers and collaborations with companies such as Heals, the Tate and Ligne Roset. As well as here at The Cass Summer Show, our students show work all year round at other events and venues such as Clerkenwell Design Week.
