An artist impression of the Holloway campus
With an investment of £900,000 we have begun a series of campus-brightening projects that will improve the look and feel of Holloway campus. This work takes place as part of our One Campus, One Community (OCOC) project and is due for completion in October 2017.
The campus-brightening programme
Areas currently undergoing improvement works as part of the programme are the Graduate Centre, 20 classrooms located in the Benwell Road area of the campus, and the first and second floor restroom facilities located in the Learning Resource Centre.
The Graduate Centre
We are giving the Graduate Centre a complete makeover with the installation of new lighting, modern furniture and carpeting to give it a brighter look and feel.
Student feedback has played a key part in our plans for the Centre and we want to ensure that the space is inspired by our students’ vision for the area. We have therefore commissioned one of our very own students with a passion for design to create a monochrome style of imagery, which will be used to decorate the ground floor corridors of the Centre.
One of the key goals of our OCOC project is to provide a world-class environment for excellent teaching and innovative learning. We are upgrading all teaching and learning spaces located in the Graduate Centre, along with 20 classrooms based in Benwell Road.
All teaching and learning spaces included in the campus-brightening programme are being fitted with the latest teaching technology to enhance the learning experience. We are installing interactive multi-touchscreens in all rooms, applying the design layouts of our Holloway campus pilot classrooms to each space following positive student feedback.
Each room will be furnished with modern, vibrant furniture that can be configured to support the variety of teaching styles and learning activity here at London Met.
New restroom facilities
In response to student feedback, we have invested £150,000 in the refurbishment of our toilet facilities located on the first and second floor of the Learning Resource Centre. The area will be completely stripped out and reinstalled with new restroom facilities. Works will begin in September 2017.
