Portrait by Barbara Chandler
Since graduating from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, Slovenia (Part II), Vanja has worked as a professional architect, before joining The Cass in 2009 for her Masters in Furniture Design at The Cass in London and launching her own design studio.
Her practice is material-driven, her process ‘hands on’. Employing a sense of simplicity, her design forms expose raw materials, a transparency of working process and an honesty to finished pieces. Her design practice spans from furniture, lighting to most recently, ceramic product ranges. Alongside private commissions, Vanja’s work can been seen in Anthropologie, independent design shops and galleries. Vanja regularly exhibits in galleries and design fairs across Europe and USA.
Vanja became ‘Designer in Residence’ at the CASS in 2011 and worked as curatorial and design assistant at the CASS on the Design School Summer Shows in June 2012 and 2013. The exciting new designs currently on The Cass Central House building are part of Vanja’s legacy here at The Cass! Vanja also joined the Design Project Team in July 2013.
