Susanna joins The Cass in 2015 to lead the Visual Communication area within the School of Design. She has worked for many high profile clients, judged international design awards, managed educational courses and departments in Europe and presented work at international conferences and exhibitions.
Her work as a freelance designer and art director is often in collaboration with other designers. Edwards’ work originates from traditional hands on ways of working such as letterpress and printmaking, but crosses over into the digital and other areas such as photography, typography, print and publishing, editorial, research, and the social sciences.
Described as innovative, holistic, and at the forefront of visual communication by clients and in design periodicals, Susanna offers a deep engagement on every project and has nurtured relationships with established individuals and organisations from a variety of professional backgrounds; from museums and galleries to cultural entrepreneurs, historians, philosophers, artists, designers writers and scientists.
Projects take various forms from exhibitions, events, installations and artists publications. This area of work includes research and residencies at major Museums and Institutions such as The Science Museum, The Hunterian Museum and The Royal Society and working in collaboration with the author and filmmaker Iain Sinclair.
In July 2010, Susanna was invited to submit her portfolio to the Art Workers Guild in London, where she was accepted as a life–long member.
Commissions and collaborations have included Baseline magazine, Grafik, St Bride Printing Library, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Vintage Publishing, The School of Life, Lux Films, The British Council, The British Museum, Coco De Mer, Clerkenwell Literary Festival, Iain Sinclair, Tate Britain, The British Library, the Science Museum, London and the Hunterian Museum, Royal College of Surgeons, London.
