Frances set up her first business at university, manufacturing and wholesaling jewellery and selling the work of graduate art, design and craft graduates. This experience was the sparked an interest in understanding and improving enterprise education, culture and strategies for higher education.  As an undergraduate start-up, part of HE incubators and now completing her PhD and lecturing in creative enterprise skills and design thinking, Frances understands the enterprising student’s journey and is focussed on improving services and experiences available to them at and beyond university. Frances is director of research at Askstarting (questions about startups, business and entrepreneurial careers), part of NACUE create’s steering group and is a design researcher and consultant working with universities, educational organisations and creative businesses. At The CASS Frances is assisting on the design project team, focussing on student experience and enterprise.
