Ben Cresswell Riol

Ben joined the Design/shift team to help to build, organise and design The Cass Summer Show 2014. As a new first year student, Ben had a true baptism by fire, learning all about the delights and pressures of mounting a large public exhibition through his role, both assisting and exhibiting for the first time at the 2014 Cass Summer Show. Ben has just finished his first year at The Cass, undertaking the FdA Furniture at The Cass School of Design. Ben has a professional background in structural engineering, working as both a designer and for one of the industry's professional bodies as a technical editor, since graduating with a BEng in Civil Engineering. Ben's main focus is on traditional craftsmanship, the use of natural, sustainable materials and in developing products that are multifunctional, which he believes are key components to modern living, having been greatly influenced by Scandinavian design. He also has a keen interest in restoration and upholstery, and plans to explore these and other expertise and facilities on offer during his time at The Cass.
