This course aims to foster advanced practical and creative design skills relevant to commercial jewellery production. Students are encouraged to develop an individual design philosophy to sustain a portfolio of design practice. Students will evaluate the local and global language of jewellery and fashion design and consider ways of engaging new audience and product opportunities.

The University's unique location on the East London City fringe provides a dynamic creative community. Most members of the teaching staff are practising artists and designers and we enjoy the support of high-profile, artists, designers and manufacturers. Our outstanding facilities, specialist expertise and related business activities (Goldsmiths Centre, Digital Manufacturing Centre, Metropolitan Works, Design Nation) support and prepare you for employment within jewellery design.

What our students say

I initially thought Research within the Art and Design world would be almost non-existing. Nothing further from the truth! And I believe that the Design Suite MA, having so many original ideas that have appeared from combining knowledge from different backgrounds is the most favourable environment to conduct research and obtain its primary output: innovation. Within this MA I had to truly “learn to think” and put my own ideas on paper, not just a collection of someone else’s. It has taken away my fear of researching, so much so, that I am now considering pursuing a PhD.
