Overview

This is the first programme of its kind in Europe to combine the expertise of two Universities that specialise in sustainable tourism. The programme provides a broad based analysis of tourism management and development issues with a specialisation on the principal issues associated with sustainability in tourism. The challenge of measures to adapt to or mitigate the impact and effects of climate change are a core element of the programme alongside the broader assessment of the environmental, economic, social and cultural dimensions of tourism and sustainability. The programme draws upon state of the art academic and practitioner knowledge in the field supported by specialist research perspectives from staff at both institutions. The programme engages with the critical issues facing global tourism in the twenty first century and strategies to address the pressing problems which tourism activity and development poses to host communities.
