Aims of the course

Changes in the world economy over the last two decades have brought about complementary changes in international banking as financial markets and institutions have sought to design and operate the new and increasingly sophisticated financial strategies required to adapt to increasing globalisation.

The course aims to provide an advanced contemporary grounding in international banking and finance and combines theoretical knowledge with practical banking applications including case study analysis. You will have access to our state-of-the-art Bloomberg facility and BankScope to further enhance your analytical skills. Using these facilities you will acquire a detailed understanding of the tools and the necessary skills for undertaking banking decisions and analyses in global markets, enhancing your employability in a highly competitive field.

Entry requirements

You should have a good first degree and evidence of a strong interest in pursuing a career in the financial services, or related industry. Applicants with substantial relevant professional experience will also be considered.

Course structure

You take six taught modules, five of which are core and one an option, together with a dissertation of 15,000 words.

Assessment

A variety of assessment methods are used throughout the course, including essays, group presentations, and exams.

The course prepares you for a career in multinational banking or finance, particularly in areas such as financial markets and corporate finance. You will gain practical skills and hands-on training on the key industry software, as well as a global and strategic perspective, providing excellent training for careers in this field.
