Overview

The purpose of the course is to provide students with the opportunity for reflection upon their professional practice, to broaden their perspectives upon their current practice and to engage with industrial practice, which is considered core for senior managers and practitioners within the interactive media and games industries. The course provision will be tailored to map to the students particular work context and environment. Gamelab London will deliver the course which is a multi-BAFTA nominated industry-facing Applied Research Group within the Faculty of Computing.

Normally an upper second-class Honours degree in a relevant subject. Those with relevant professional qualifications or extensive professional experience will also be considered. It is expected that applicants be actively and professionally engaged in appropriate industries.

Course contents

The programme of study will be entirely practice driven and work-based, customised to the individual needs of the students in their workplace.

Core modules include:
• Advanced Interactive Development
• Professional Portfolio and Management Skills
• MSc Project

Teaching methods

Support and guidance will be provided both online and face-to-face. Students will have access to University resources, including dedicated staff time.

Assessment

Assessment is by coursework throughout. All assignments are negotiated around the work requirements of the student.

The knowledge and skills gained from this course should better prepare and place graduates in a highly and increasingly competitive employment market. Specifically the course is designed to enable graduates to demonstrate strong commitment and evidence of applying their work-related study directly and effectively to their work, so that they are better positioned for an enhanced career progression.
