Overview

The MA Human Resource and Employment Management course is aimed at those currently or aspiring to work in the HR or employment fields. Applicants may currently be working in Human Resources, relevant government departments, trade unions, national and international non-governmental organisations ie. voluntary and campaigning organisations, consultancy and academia. Human resource professionals and employment practitioners seeking to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of human resource activities will benefit from taking this course.

The course balances issues of public policy and organisational practice in the field with sound theoretical and research foundations. It also encourages you to specialise in your own area of occupational and academic interest through option choice and the completion of a dissertation. It provides an opportunity for students to gain a CIPD professional qualification within the field of human resource and employment management.

The work of the Comparative Organisation and Equality Research Centre and the Working Lives Research Institute support this course. The Trades Union Congress (TUC) Library, located in the University’s Learning Centre, and the Women's Library at our City campus are key study assets
