Overview

NOTE - THIS COURSE IS NOW CLOSED

This course is designed for qualified nurses with a relevant first degree who wish to acquire a Specialist Practitioner qualification recorded on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Professional Register. The course encourages you to develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills and integrates practice and theory through assessments and clinical support in placements. Multi-agency working with other students from the statutory and voluntary sectors is an important part of the programme. There is an emphasis on relevant policy issues that influence the changing context of primary care and the development of community health within it.

The course seeks to have a clear user-centred focus, as well as promoting the development of public health skills. The course also has a considerable practice and work-based component in order to develop specialist and higher level skills. Specialist branches currently offered are:

  • Community Mental Health Nursing
  • District Nursing
  • Practice Nursing
