#GetAhead 2016, the London Met event to help students succeed

The annual conference aims to help students improve their grades and make new friends.

Date: 3 February 2016

This year the annual Get Ahead conference will be held on 17 February in the Graduate Centre.

The event is run by students, for students, and this year, Dominic Barrett, a second year Education Studies student, is leading the conference.

"As student coordinator for the conference I hope students from all years will attend, whether it's first years gaining study tips to third years considering how they can polish up their CV for post university life,” says Dominic.

“I have personally seen and approved all the workshops involved within the GetAhead day and although each one is fantastic and desirable, 'How to make your Dissertation Dazzle' stands out for me. As a second year I need to start thinking about my dissertation and this workshop is the perfect place to start."

The conference will run from 10am – 5pm and is open to everyone studying at London Met. There is no need to book a place you can just turn up.

Several workshops will be on throughout the day including ‘Dazzle with your Dissertation,’ ‘Brush up your CV,’ and ‘Befriend a grade A student.’ Students who attend will also have the chance to take part in competitions and win prizes.

Attendees will get a free lunch and the first 100 students will receive a goodie bag on arrival.

Other events at the conference will include the chance to learn about making a radio show, opportunities to secure work placements, learning about interview techniques and a speech from Students’ Union president, Obie Opara.
