London Met academic nominated for top diversity award

Voting is now open to support Professor Liz Kelly at this year’s National Diversity Awards.

Professor Liz Kelly, Director of London Met’s Child and Womens Abuse Studies Unit (CWASU), has been nominated for a National Diversity Award.

The National Diversity Awards celebrates the achievements, dedication and hard work of role models, entrepreneurs and community organisations across the equality and diversity sector.

Professor Kelly has been nominated for the Lifetime Achiever Award which is voted for by the public. The award honours an individual who has made significant, innovative and cumulatively outstanding contributions to enhancing the practice of equality and diversity, devoting a major portion of their professional career to the cause.

Based in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Kelly has been teaching and researching violence against women and children for almost thirty years. In 2000 she was awarded a CBE for 'services combating violence against women and children'.

“I am very honoured to have been nominated for this award, for my work on violence against women and girls,” commented Professor Kelly on her nomination.

“The many congratulations I received on Twitter reminded me that recognition by your peers is an important gift that we should never underestimate.”

The fourth annual National Diversity Awards will be held at Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral on Friday 18 September..
