Date: 23 February 2015

An inspirational journalism graduate from London Metropolitan University has secured a role with major financial news publication, the International Business Times.

Elsa landed the role after freelancing as a photojournalist across the world, taking breath-taking photos in countries such as Sri Lanka, Brazil and Cameroon.

“As a freelancer, I worked hard to build up a solid portfolio, make contacts and create a name for myself in the industry,” Elsa said. “I am extremely happy to be the International Business Times' new foreign news reporter. I cover, and occasionally break, all sorts of very interesting stories, from political power plays in Guinea to Isis supporters in Japan.

“Because of my languages, I have also been offered the possibility of becoming IBT's Latin America reporter - another very exciting step in my career.”

In an interview with the latest issue of London Met’s alumni magazine, Stay Connected, Elsa describes how her involvement in the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004 changed her life forever, compelling her to set up a charity. The travel which came with this work presented her with the opportunity to freelance as a photojournalist reporting on stories around the world.
