Board of Governors Renewal

London Metropolitan University is pleased to announce the completion of the renewal of its Board of Governors.  Under a Joint Statement with the Higher Education Funding Council of England (HEFCE) of last December, the University agreed to a timetable of renewal of the lay governors on the Board.

At the Board of Governors' meeting on 30 June the Board approved the following new Governors:

Laura Carstensen, Deputy Chair, Competition Commission
Katherine Farr, former Partner at Ernst and Young
Maureen Laurie, former Director of Human Resources at the British Council
Ann Minogue, Partner at Ashurst
Professor Diane Willcocks, former Vice-Chancellor of York St John University.

These five new governors join five appointed earlier in the year:  Clive Jones (Chair), Mark Robson (Deputy Chair), Rob Hull, Emir Feisal and Daleep Mukarji.

The Chair of the University's Governance Committee, Tony Millns, commented:

"A huge number of people were nominated for the Board.  We are delighted to announce such a strong second group of governors, to complement the governors appointed in March.  Each brings a particular expertise to the Board while all have both experience of, and commitment to, higher education."

The Board of Governors thanked the five outgoing governors:  Philip Bignell, Jeremy Mayhew, Raj Patel, Sir Michael Snyder, Professor Nadirshaw Zenobia.

The Vice-Chancellor, Malcolm Gillies, commented:  "Between them, these retiring governors have given over three decades of service to London Metropolitan University or its predecessor bodies.  We thank them for their many and varied contributions."
