Sport success at London Met

London Metropolitan University’s sport teams had a successful semester this autumn. London Met won the grand slam at the British University Sports Association (BUSA) Individual Tennis Championships held at the University of Bath 14-18 December. The University took home the women’s singles and doubles, and the men’s singles and doubles.

After five days of competition, London Met took all four titles in the Barclays’ BUSA Individual Tennis Championships on a day which saw quality play from all sides. London Met’s Anna Koumatou and Matjaz Jurman took home the individual and doubles titles for the women and men respectively.

BUSA was formed as a result of the merger between the Universities Athletic Union and the British Universities Sports Federation in November 1994. Since its formation BUSA has become recognised as the governing body for university sport in the UK and is accepted as such by the UK Sports Council, National Governing Bodies of Sport and various other sports related organisations. Currently there are 151 Universities and Institutes of Higher Education in its membership.

The Association provides an inter-university championship programme in 49 sports as well as a representative programme and at the representative level teams are entered in the World University Games and World University Championships.
