London Met to Host Prestigious Enterprising Event on 26 May
London Met has been selected to host the London leg of the national tour of Doug Richard’s School for Startups on Wednesday 26 May 2010, highlighting the University’s growing reputation as a leader in student enterprise.
Doug Richard is a successful entrepreneur with over 20 years experience in the development and leadership of technology and software ventures. Doug featured in the first two television series of Dragons’ Den and has since started School for Startups, which is the UK’s leading provider of business training for entrepreneurs. Their business networking events connect small businesses to create supportive, self-sustaining communities and their overarching mission is to create a vibrant, dynamic culture and economy in the UK that supports and promotes innovation and entrepreneurialism.
The event will be held as part of London Met’s Student Enterprise Programme which is open to students of any subject. Other aspects of the Programme include business training, strategy and business planning competitions, internships with start up companies, as well as finance, mentoring and office space for start up businesses. This offer perfectly complements the work of Schools for Startups.
Matthew Connelly, London Met’s Student Enterprise Development Manager expressed his delight at being the only London institution chosen to support School for Startups: “We are overjoyed to be hosting Doug Richard’s School for start ups at London Met. It’s a real honour for our University to host such a prestigious enterprising event. The School for Startups provides some of the best entrepreneurial training in the country and it is excellent that we are able to work together.”
