Senior Lecturer appointed to UNESCO committee

A Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Languages and Education has been invited to join the Culture Committee of UNESCO UK.

UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, functions as a laboratory of ideas and a standard-setter to forge universal agreements on emerging ethical issues. The organisation consists of 193 Member States and six Associate Members in the fields of education, science, culture and communication.

Senior Lecturer Holly Aylett has accepted an honorary position which will allow her to further her research into cultural policy and the UNESCO Convention, 2005, and to play a stronger role in the creative industries sector in the UK.

Commenting on her appointment Holly said: ‘I am looking forward to involving London Met in future research and events and expanding my networking base for the benefit of our students’.

As well as teaching on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in film studies and cultural policy areas, Holly is a Senior Research Fellow of The Global Policy Institute specialising in the Modernity and Culture Programme. Her current research and consultancy is in international policy and the role of audiovisual industries in government strategies for development.
