Library and information professionals in the 21st century

On 6 July 2009, the Department of Applied Social Sciences (DASS) will be holding a conference for new professionals entitled: ‘What is it like to be a Library and Information Professional in the 21st Century? Forum and Debate from a New Professionals’ Perspective.’

The event will be held in partnership with the Career Development Group and the Diversity Group of CILIP (The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals) at London Metropolitan University’s Graduate Centre.

DASS is currently involved in a project funded by the Linking London Lifelong Learning Network, which focuses on developing new curriculum to address the need for particular skills development within the library and information profession. The conference will form therefore form part of the project’s consultation’s programme.

Sessions will be presentation-based, with opportunity for delegates to share experiences, ask questions and to vote for the best paper.

Delegate rates:

  • CDG/DG members - £55 + 15% VAT = £63.25
  • Non members - £75 + 15% VAT = £ 86.25
  • Students & Unwaged - £35 + 15% VAT = £ 40.25 (20 places are available on a first-come, first-served basis - book early to avoid disappointment)
