Microsoft IT academy membership for Faculty of Computing
The Faculty of Computing has become a recognised member of the Microsoft IT Academy.
The Microsoft IT Academy program enables academic learning institutions to connect the world of education to the world of work by enabling faculty and students to acquire new technology skills in an academic setting. Microsoft IT Academies benefit from world-class Microsoft curriculum and cutting-edge software tools to experience real-world challenges in the classroom environment.
The membership enables the faculty to offer its students selected Microsoft qualifications. Staff will also benefit by gaining access to instructor resources and Microsoft e-learning resources, lesson plans and subsidised courseware.
Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Professor Dominic Palmer-Brown, said: ‘This is a good development that will really help to enhance our students' career prospects.’
Dr. Yanguo Jing, the faculty’s co-ordinator for Microsoft IT Academy, said: ’I am very excited for our students, they now have the opportunity to gain Microsoft qualifications alongside their degree. This will allow them to link academic learning to real world job skills, increase their employability and stand out in a competitive job market. It will also give staff a great opportunity to embed Microsoft technologies in their curriculum and offer short courses.’
