Top Games Programmer visits London Met
This month industry wiz Alex Whittaker visited London Met's GameLab Studio, where he was shown work by final year students.
Alex is Principal Programmer at Eidos’s London studio, Beautiful Game Studios, the makers of Championship Manager football management titles. He has led the logic and AI teams there for a number of years, and architected and developed core sections of the game.
London Met BSc Computer Games students showed him portfolios and projects they are currently working on and Alex was able to share his invaluable technical advice and experience with them.
Alex then gave a short talk to all Computer Games students which focused on technical design and good programming techniques for developing computer games.
The visit came about out of a long-standing relationship between Alex and London Met. He has previously contributed towards the revalidation of BSc Computer Games and has visited the end of year degree show, which showcases the department's student talent.
Fiona French, course leader for BSc Computer Games said: ‘Giving our students the opportunity to network with industry professionals is really important. Alex has been involved in a number of high profile and interesting gaming projects and his visit was warmly received.'
