London Met's research is internationally recognised

The results of the Research Assessment Exercise 2008 (RAE), published today, have highlighted both the quality and range of research outputs across the University.
Particular highlights include:
- Over 60% of all research outputs were judged to be at, or better than, a quality that is recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
- Over 50% of our unit of assessment submissions received some 4* ratings, denoting research of a quality that is "world leading"
Based on the RAE grade point average:
- Education - in top 20% of all universities in the country; 2nd new university
- European Studies - 2nd in London; top new university
- Social Work and Social Policy & Administration - top 5 new university in the country; number of research staff submitted second only to LSE in London
Commenting on the results, Professor Paul Lister, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Development said: 'This excellent result demonstrates the depth of research culture we have at London Met.
The overall result shows an improvement over the 2001 result when our two predecessor institutions submitted separately and provides a robust foundation for our strategic intent of becoming recognised as a ‘research-intensive’ institution, with our research and teaching performance benchmarked against national and international comparators.'
