Scotland Creates: Museum Virals

Digital Media Lecturer works with National Museums of Scotland to create Viral Video campaign.

Date: 28/05/2014

Digital media lecturer Suzanne Cohen has been involved in a project working with National Museums of Scotland and Sounddelivery. The brief was to encourage young people to create their own viral videos aimed at their peer group with the intention of challenging perceptions about museums.

At the end of a two-day video and animation training session in Edinburgh, five groups from Kilmarnock, to the Outer Hebrides, pitched their concepts. The groups then went away to develop storyboards. Each group recieved online support and guidance from Suzanne to produce their footage which she then edited back in London.

The final films were launched at the Scotland Creates: A Sense of Place exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland a couple of weeks ago. The 'Museum Virals' are on the National Museums of Scotland website, along with a blog about the creative process.
