Premiere Vision

BA Textile Design students visit fashion fabric trade show in Paris.

Date: 25 February 2013

BA (Hons) Textile Design students, accompanied by course leader, Gina Pierce, visited the Premiere Vision fashion fabric trade show in Paris this month.

A visit to this leading trade show gives students a great insight into the fashion textile industry. They are immediately immersed in the six large exhibition halls, showing the latest developments and samples in printed, knitted and woven fabrics, along with leathers, embroidery, yarns and haberdashery.

One of the main attractions is Indigo, the area where the design studios show and sell their designs to manufacturers. The trend areas where new fabrics, colours and trends are shown are also of key interest.

Students are given a great overview of the whole textile industry, from design to production in one show, helping them to identify where they would like to work, and to start to build contacts.
