London Metropolitan University’s Careers and Employability’s ‘Way to Win’ conference took place on June 13 at the University’s Holloway campus.

The conference featured 16 different presentations, which included topics such as job search strategies, entrepreneurship, and effective use of social media and apps when job hunting.

The workshops, which were hailed a complete success by students and employers alike, started at 10am and ran until 4pm. They were held by some of the University’s largest graduate recruiters, including the NHS, Debut and FDM.

“I’m going to book an appointment to see my Careers Adviser and start doing my applications! I wish I’d have come to see you earlier,” said one inspired student.

During the lunch hour, students were able to grab a bite to eat and network with recruiters. They were also given the chance to try out assessment centre exercises and to find out about London Met’s graduate internship scheme, which will be launching soon.

Even at the end of a long and intense day the workshops were full, the buzz was palpable, and the students wanted more.

One motivated student said: “I wish all students had come along today. I’ve learnt so much about myself and I feel much clearer about what I need to do”

The external speakers also thoroughly enjoyed the conference and were delighted with our students’ enthusiasm and energy.

One said, “Amongst all the sessions I’ve run in this past year, this one was the most exciting and satisfying - and the most crowded! Thank you!”
