Event leader shares insights with our events students

Visit from VP at George P. Johnson Experience Marketing

The London Guildhall School of Business & Law were visited by a distinguished events expert Kevin Jackson, vice president at George P. Johnson Experience Marketing. Kevin, who was last year voted 'Most Influential Person' in the events industry by Event Magazine, gave an inspirational lecture to our MA Events Marketing Management students.

Kevin talked about why experiences are so important in branding and gave the students valuable career advice. Among the things Kevin stressed was that “brands are defined by their actions,” and that “people judge brands by the experience they or someone they know has had with the brand.”  

Kevin is a passionate advocate for the events industry, and has through his relentless work contributed to the increased status of 'events as a strategy' in the fields of marketing, branding and PR.

The students took what Kevin had to say to heart, and one student, Verarose Escuadro, said: “Kevin talked about experiential marketing and the best part of his lecture was that it was an experience in itself - the kind of inspiring and motivating words that you know you'll always bring with you throughout your career.”

Senior lecturer Henrik Linden agreed that Kevin’s talk was extraordinary: “Kevin’s knowledge about experience marketing is immense, and the students could clearly sense his authentic passion for events. It also confirms the high standing of our events degrees that someone of Kevin’s stature takes time out of his busy schedule to share his insights with our students.”

Kevin Jackson recently also gave a talk to our 1st year BA Events Management students, as part of the Introduction to Events module. Lecturer Eva Nicotra said of the visit: “The students had the opportunity to hear and learn from the experience of one of the event industry’s leading figures in a highly insightful session. Guest talks such as this one form an integral part of our course and bring the reality of the world of events to the classroom and inspire students.”
