EVENT: Histories in Professional Education: recovering silenced lives

The University is hosting a free one-day seminar exploring historical themes, methods and resources to enhance study, teaching and research across the social professions.

London Metropolitan University is hosting a one-day seminar which offers an introduction to case studies of research along with an exploration of resources for historical study led by archivists and librarians from Islington Heritage Centre, The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) of Childhood, and London Met’s Trade Union Library Collection (TUC).

The discussion will explore historical themes, methods and resources to enhance study, teaching and research across the social professions.

Contributors include:

  • Professor John Gabriel, Chair Oral History Society and lecturer on Health and Social Care BSc at London Met
  • Julie Melrose, Archivist, Islington Heritage Service
  • Dr Christine Coates, former librarian, The TUC Library Collection, London Met
  • Gary Haines, Archivist, The Museum of Childhood, V&A, Bethnal Green
  • Dr Yolanda Eraso – senior lecturer in Health and Social Care BSc at London Met
  • Dr Aminul Hoque MBE – author of “British-Islamic Identity: Third-Generation Bangladeshis from East London” and visiting lecturer in Education Studies BA at London Met

The seminar is free of charge and open to students, staff and all with an interest in this area.
