| Teaching Company Scheme: IGEM
A two-year Teaching Company Scheme (TCS) project began in July 2001 with funding to the university of £98.500. Forty percent of the funding is provided by IGEM with the remainder provided through a TCS grant. Tom Boyle and Ray Jones provide consultancy and expertise to IGEM in developing an integrated electronic service to its members, through the use of information and communications technology. A key aspect of TCS schemes is the appointment of an Associate who is employed by the University but works full time in the company. A graduate of LondonMet, Maria Chukwu-Nsofor, was appointed to this post in July 2001. She has developed a new web site for the institution. The project will have a significant impact on IGEM's core business through the use of web publishing, e-Commerce and e-Learning. Its different services will be re-engineered to provide a one-stop shop where members or customers can have an integrated electronic service. The aim is that IGEM should become the first port of call or hot button for its individual and corporate members when they need a professional service.
